Our Choir Philosophy

The Officers and Directors responsible for the organization and operations of the Fort Bend Boys Choir are committed to the belief that this group affords a unique opportunity to instill positive and beneficial qualities in boys who throughout the years may participate in this organization, as well as to the entire area.

The experience of many years has shown that the Fort Bend Boys Choir appeals to -- and most benefits -- a certain type of boy. He may also be interested in sports, the sciences or the arts. But he IS interested in music -- whether it be listening to the radio or singing in a choir at his church or school.

Music is not the ultimate goal of the Fort Bend Boys Choir philosophy, for many of the boys will not sing professionally after voice change. Yet, musical excellence is the Fort Bend Boys Choirs' hallmark, as proven in the continuing accolades of music critics throughout the nation and the world! The choir staff uses music as a means -- a vehicle -- to the end of helping in the transformation of young boys into young men. Through the art and science of music and related fields, we endeavor to teach and develop in him self-discipline, self-motivation, consistency of accomplishment, etiquette and other qualities which will aid him immediately in his long-range and continuing quest for success, whatever his chosen field.

Because the Choir's goal is excellence, choirboys are traditionally above average in intelligence and ability as boys, and this continues on into their adulthood. All members of the choir are encouraged to become good students, participate in a broad assortment of extracurricular activities and strive to become responsible and involved citizens.

It is believed that the members and staff of the Fort Bend Boys Choir will be outstanding ambassadors for this area, carrying with them attitudes, abilities and decorum exemplifying the positive image of a growing, dynamic and successful part of Texas and the United States. Musical excellence and the philosophy of the Fort Bend Boys Choir go hand-in-hand, for the stretching toward a goal of perfection is the most rewarding and enriching of all human experiences and is the greatest character builder of all.
